Faqs

1. You have my LinkedIn profile. Is it necessary to submit a resume?
You might think, but that is not the case. A LinkedIn profile is like putting your car on eBay. A resume is like CARFAX. If you want to be taken seriously, then you should be as transparent as possible. LinkedIn is not serious, it is trolling.

The more that your agent knows about you the better. We believe it is good business practice to introduce yourself with LinkedIn, then a resume, then a call, then an interview. Each step takes as much time as you, the candidate wants, but it takes time. Since we're very busy dealing with thousands of candidates and clients (that have immediate business needs) we prefer not to be rushed through all the stages. It makes for a better experience for everyone.

So here at Relational International; - No, a LinkedIn profile is not a substitute for a professional resume, with an email address, address, and telephone number.
2. What are your fee arrangements?

Professional fees are paid by our client companies upon successful completion of our search.

3. What methods do you use to successfully identify qualified professionals?
    • New assignments are matched with our current resumes on file.
    • Our outstanding database of professionals.
    • Legacy recruiting from in-house and externally developed corporate research.
    • Referral sources within our network are identified and contacted.
4. What distinguishes Relational International from your competitors?

We are a contingency-based business consulting organization retained by our clients and candidates to provide a service. We view ourselves as professionals and strive to make certain our efforts add value to our client’s search and your candidacy. If you decide to establish a career-long relationship with Relational International, you will be associated with a firm that takes itself and our business partners seriously. We have the notable opinion that we choose our customers, not the other way around; -We only work for people that we like and that makes for superior employers. Finally, 30 years experience combined with fair and honest wisdom.

5. I would like to refer you someone. Do you pay referral fees?

No. We do not pay referral fees. We feel the practice of paying unaffiliated contacts is detrimental to the profession and that there is too much potential of skewing best candidate selection. A candidate should not have such provenance.

If you feel that you have what it takes to be a professional recruiter, then we welcome your employment application.

6. Are Salary Surveys accurate representations of what I should be earning?

Companies that are large enough to have a professional Human Resources department have implemented salary policies which typically include a proviso that new hires should never be paid above the midpoint in a salary scale. It is important to note that the average salary, where the marker is, (as represented in the horizontal bar charts below) is not the midpoint salary.

Midpoint salaries are arbitrary Human Resource constructs based on algorithms that tend to be 15% shy of the average (on Glassdoor). So if you are joining a new company, look up the midpoint and multiply that by .85 and you'll know what the highest offer is that you should expect, if you own all of the job requirements*.

7. * Should I apply for a positon for which I don't have all of the requested experience?

Absolutely! Think of a job posting as a wish list. (You have a wish list too, that you may or may not get.) Life's a compromise. There are too many variables in human interaction to gauge whether a hiring authority will find a way to employ you. Weirder things have happened than a person lacking experience landing an incredible opportunity! If you don't ask, you don't get. Hope is a powerful force; -and winning is exhilarating! Don't shortchange yourself. Be honest about your shortcomings and try! Besides, it's on us, not you.
